November 24, 2015

Crews completed another bridge replacement project in Bradford County today, as the SR 706 crossing over Cold Creek in Stevens Township reopened (JV97).

The bridge was closed for reconstruction in late September with traffic using a temporary runaround, and reopened early evening of Tuesday, November 24th. The work was performed by Walsh Construction II.

Next spring a final layer of a special polyester concrete will be placed on the bridge deck to resist pothole formation and reduce bridge maintenance costs. That material can only be applied in temperatures above 50 degrees and after the deck has cured for at least 30 days. Drivers may notice a slight bump as they cross the bridge until that final step is completed.

Motorists may encounter occasional daytime flagging operations while the temporary runaround is removed. Removal of the temporary runaround should be completed in December.
