The reopening of the Lovedale Road (SR 2010) bridge, spanning a branch of Wylie Run in Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County, has been delayed.
Construction started on August 1 and was anticipated to be completed in early September. However, due to unforeseen conditions at the bridge site, the new anticipated completion date is mid-November. While the bridge is still closed, motorists are directed to follow a detour along McKeesport Road (SR 2001), Route 51 (Hayden Boulevard), Route 48 (Scenery Drive), and Mill Hill Road (SR 2008).
Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from the state’s list of structurally deficient bridges.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may still change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-424 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
