A new Route 655 bridge in Union Township, Mifflin County is complete and open to traffic. The bridge spans Frogs Hollow Run, near the village of Kishacoquillas and was replaced as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of the bridge allows PennDOT to remove it from Mifflin County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
The bridge reopened to traffic on Friday, October 13. Replacement work was performed by Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College, PA.
The new crossing is longer and wider than the one it replaced and is designed with a 100-year lifespan.
This bridge is referred to as JV-74 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
