The Sullivan Road (SR 4011) bridge in Bradford Township, that’s been under construction as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, is complete and open to traffic. The bridge spans Bennett Brook, northwest of the City of Bradford. Replacement of the bridge allows PennDOT to remove it from McKean County’s structurally deficient list.
The bridge reopened to traffic on Thursday, October 27 and the detour that had been in place using Interstate Parkway (Route 4009) was removed. Replacement work was performed by Bob Cummins Construction.
The new crossing is longer and wider than the one it replaced and is designed with a 100-year lifespan.
This bridge is referred to as JV-73 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
