Stage two construction on the bridge carrying Philmont Avenue (Route 2013) over Huntingdon Valley Creek, located between Red Lion Road and Pine Road in Lower Moreland Township, Montgomery County, is scheduled to begin on Friday, September 21, as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.

During the second stage of construction, westbound traffic will continue to follow a detour along Byberry Road (Route 2009) and Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike). Eastbound traffic will continue to pass through the work zone. The new bridge is anticipated to be complete by the end of 2018.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.

This bridge is referred to as JV-216 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
