Construction for the PA 33
South bridge, spanning US 22 in Bethlehem Township, Northampton County, continues as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
Motorists should expect intermittent single lane closures of PA 33 southbound on Wednesday, April 4, from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. for pavement markings and line striping work. In late April, construction crews will perform a deck pour on the new structure, with a southbound lane closure planned on PA 33. A time and date with traffic details for the deck pour will be released closer to construction time.
The bridge project is scheduled to be completed in May. When the PA 33
South bridge is complete, work will begin on the bridge carrying PA 33 North over US 22 in Bethlehem Township.
Schedules are subject to change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-198 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
