The Route 56 bridge over Little Pucketa Creek in the City of New Kensington is complete and open to traffic.
The bridge opened to traffic the afternoon of Friday, September 2. The work was performed by Beech Construction of Carnegie. The bridge is longer and wider than the one it replaced, and should last for over 100 years.
This bridge is referred to as JV-542 out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
