October 04, 2017

Construction for a bridge that carries Smokestown Road over Swamp Creek in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, has been postponed.  Smokestown Road is officially designated as State Route 1034.   Construction was expected to begin in October 2017 as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it the state’s structurally deficient bridge list.

Construction has been rescheduled to January 2018 and will be complete in April.  During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Route 897, Ridge Road and Reinholds Road.

A release with the exact date of construction will be issued no later than 14-days prior to the bridge closure.
