Construction for the Poplar Street (Route 1053) bridge, spanning Cocalico Creek in West Cocalico Township, Lancaster County has been postponed. It was previously scheduled to begin during the week of May 15.

Construction is now expected to begin during the week of May 22 and be complete in late August.  During this time, motorists will follow a detour along Steinmetz Road, Main Street, North 6th Street, South Ridge Road, Route 897 (West Main Street), South Peartown Road, and Greenville Road.  Leisey Road, located by the overpass, will be closed for the duration of the project.

In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.

This bridge is referred to as JV-271 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
