Construction for the Route 116 (Fairfield Road) bridge, spanning Muddy Run in Highland Township has been delayed to start until Wednesday, September 21.
It was previously scheduled to begin earlier this week. Work is expected to be complete by late November.
The detour route has also been modified. During construction, drivers will now be directed to follow a detour route along Carrolls Tract Road/ Orrtanna Road (SR 3011) Knoxlyn-Orrtanna Road (State Route 3020), and Route 116.
The work will be performed by Walsh Construction II. Replacing the bridge will remove it from PennDOT’s list of structurally deficient bridges in Adams County.
This bridge is referred to as JV-224 out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
