Construction for the West Juniata Parkway (State Route 1015) bridge, spanning over Wild Cat Run in Greenwood Township, Perry County, has been delayed to start until Monday, October 3. It was previously scheduled to begin early this week. Work is expected to be complete by early December.
A little more than 2,800 vehicles cross this bridge on a daily basis. During the bridge closure, drivers will be directed to follow a detour utilizing Route 22/322, Route 34, and West Juniata Parkway.
The work will be performed by Walsh Construction II. The new bridge should be completed and opened to traffic by late November.
Built in 1925, the current bridge has deteriorated over time and is currently classified as structurally deficient. Replacing the bridge will allow the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to remove this bridge from its list of structurally deficient bridges in Perry County.
The West Juniata Parkway bridge is designated on the website as JV-291. JV stands for joint venture.
