Construction
for the Route 982 (Latrobe Street) bridge, which spans Ninemile Run in Unity Township, Westmoreland County had previously been postponed. Construction is now expected to begin during the week of September 5 and be complete in late October.
During construction, car traffic will utilize a detour along Route 2027 (Whitney Road) and Pipe Town Road (Route 2023). Truck traffic will utilize a detour along Whitney Road (Route 2027), Route 981 (Latrobe Grabicks
Taver Road) and Route 30.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-550 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
