Construction for the bridge carrying Quakake Road over Quakake Creek in Packer Township, Carbon County, has been rescheduled to begin during the week of October 1 as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Construction had been scheduled to begin on Monday, September 10.
When the bridge closes for full replacement, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Spring Mountain Road, Route 93 (Main Street), Route 424, Route 309 (Mile Hill Road) and Ben Titus Road. Replacement of the bridge is anticipated to be complete in early October.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may still change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-174 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
