Construction for the Cedar Grove Road (Route 4027) bridge, spanning over North Fork Cross Creek in Cross Creek Township, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Washington County’s structurally deficient list.
Construction is expected to begin on October 10 and be complete by mid-November. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Cross Creek Road (Route 4029), Strope Road (Route 4023), Meneely Road (Route 4025) and Bethel Ridge Road (Route 4014).
The bridge was built in 1932 and averages 242 vehicles a day.
This bridge is referred to as JV-538 out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
