Construction for the Guys Run Road (SR 1011) bridge, spanning Guys Run in Harmar Township, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Allegheny County’s structurally deficient list.
Construction is expected to begin on September 28 and last for approximately five weeks. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a car detour along Guys Run Road (SR 1011), Freeport Road (SR1001), SR 910 and Locust Hill Road (SR 1006). The truck detour will be along Guys Run Road (SR 1011), Freeport Road (SR1001), SR 910, Saxonburg Blvd. (SR 1013) and Fox Chapel Road (SR 1006).
Built in 1936, the bridge carries an average of 4,276 vehicles a day.
This bridge is referred to as JV-412 out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
