The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project begins replacement work in Potter County this month on a Route 49 bridge in Harrison Township. The bridge spans a branch of the Cowanesque River near the village of Mills. Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Potter County’s structurally deficient list.
Construction is expected to begin the week of September 12 and be complete in November. During this time, temporary traffic signals will enforce an alternating traffic pattern.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-85 out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
