Construction for the Route 6 (US Highway 19) bridge, spanning over Tributary to French Creek in Cambridge Township, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Crawford County’s structurally deficient list.
Construction is expected to begin on October 24 and be complete by mid-November. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along McClellan Street Ext. (Route 1006), Plank Road (Route 1019), and Gospel Hill Road (Route 1002).
The bridge was built in 1967 and averages 3,719 vehicles a day.
This bridge is referred to as JV-002 out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
