The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project will continue in Lawrence County with the start of construction on the Union Valley Road (SR 2012) bridge, which spans McKee Run in Shenango Township.

Construction is expected to begin on September 12 with the closure of the bridge. Work will take approximately five weeks to complete. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Route 2012, to Route 168, to Route 422, to Savannah Road (T-715) to Savannah Road (Route 2001).

Built in 1930, this bridge averages 1,110 vehicles a day.

This bridge is referred to as JV-478 out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
