Construction for a Yarnell Road (SR 1002) bridge in Boggs Township is scheduled to being next month as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
The bridge spans Little Marsh Creek on Yarnell Road (SR 1002) in the village of Yarnell. The bridge is currently weight-limit posted at 32 tons for single vehicles and 40 tons for combination vehicles. Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove the weight postings and also remove the bridge from Centre County’s structurally deficient list.
Construction is expected to begin the week of October 10 and be complete in 10 weeks. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Route 150 and Moose Run Road (SR 4007). Work will be performed by Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-28 out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
