A construction project to replace the bridge that carries Route 322 over Middle Creek in Clay Township, Lancaster County, is scheduled to start in early November and be completed by the end of May in 2017. An exact date will be announced closer to the start of construction after confirmation with the contractor.

The work will be performed by Walsh Construction II. The bridge will be built in two phases while maintaining traffic in a single lane. During the project, each direction of traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.

Built in 1937, the bridge averages over 8,500 vehicles a day. Due to deterioration over time, the bridge is currently classified as structurally deficient.

The Route 322 bridge is designated on the website as JV-255. JV stands for joint venture.
