Construction for the Castile Run Road (Route 1011) bridge, spanning South Fork Tenmile Creek in Jefferson Township and the Borough of Clarksville, Greene County, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Greene County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
Construction is expected to begin during the week of July 9. At that time traffic will be directed by intermittent flaggers until July 30 when the bridge will close to traffic. Construction on the bridge will be complete in mid-November. During construction, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Route 188 (Jefferson Road), Route 88 and Main Street (Route 2039).
Pedestrian access will be maintained by a shuttle bus. Shuttle service will run Monday – Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. & Sunday from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Pick-up and drop off points will be located near the bridge on both sides. Please be advised, ridership will be evaluated after the first few weeks of operation, based on usage, the schedule may be modified or discontinued.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-508 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
