Construction on the bridge carrying Lincoln Highway (Business U.S. 1) over the East Branch of Queen Anne Creek in Falls Township, Bucks County, is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 9 as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from the state’s list of structurally deficient bridges.

During full replacement of the bridge, Lincoln Highway (Business U.S. 1) between Kennedy Drive and Olds Boulevard will be reduced from four to two travel lanes. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur.

The Lincoln Highway (Business U.S. 1) bridge averages 10,612 daily vehicles. Built in 1921, the single-span concrete, solid slab bridge will be replaced with a new single-span culvert. Replacement work will be performed by Allan Myers of Worcester, PA.  Construction is anticipated to be complete in late October.

In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.

This bridge is referred to as JV-211 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
