Construction for the Route 34 (Carlisle Road) bridge, spanning Hunters Run in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County, is scheduled to begin during the week of June 4 as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
When construction begins, traffic will be maintained with one-way alternating traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Construction is anticipated to be complete by the end of the year.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-237 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
