Construction for the Route 522 (Great Cove Road) bridge, spanning Tonoloway Creek in Belfast Township, Fulton County, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Fulton County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
Construction is expected to begin during the week of March 26 and be complete in late September. During this time, car traffic will be directed by an alternating traffic pattern controlled by temporary traffic signals. Trucks will be utilizing a detour along Route 475, Route 522 (Great Cove Road) and Route 655 (Pleasant Ridge Road). There will also be turning restrictions at the intersection.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-330 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
