Bridgeville, PA – Construction for the final stage of the Freeport Road bridge replacement project on Route 1001 over Bailey Run in East Deer Township, Allegheny County, will begin during the week of April 1, 2019. Phase two of construction includes utility work previously scheduled for 2018. During construction activity, an alternating traffic pattern will be implemented and controlled by temporary traffic signals. Construction is expected to be complete in late June 2019.

In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule is subject to change.

The Freeport Road (Route 1001) bridge is the last full replacement in Allegheny County as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. When complete, 52 bridges will have been fully replaced in Allegheny County on the statewide project. This bridge is referred to as JV-409 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the program. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.

The Rapid Bridge Replacement Project is a public-private partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP), under which PWKP will finance, design, replace, and maintain the bridges for 25 years.
