October 26, 2015

On Friday in White Oak Township, Allegheny County, crews with Walsh Construction set bridge girders at the Ripple Road crossing over Long Run (JV436).

In the photo above, a crane begins to lift the first of five girders to be set that morning.

The abutment is prepared where the girders will be placed.

The crane operator carefully moves the girder into position.

Workers guide the girder into place.

The crane operator slowly lowers the girder while the crew on the abutment is careful to make sure it lands exactly where it needs to go.

Another girder is moved into position.

With all five girders set, work will now begin on forming the bridge deck. The scheduled completion for this bridge is in mid-November.
