Construction for a Route 45 (Penns Valley Road) bridge in Centre County, is scheduled to begin next week as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. The bridge spans Pine Creek in Haines Township, near the village of Woodward. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Centre County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
Construction is expected to begin July 5 and the road will be closed for 35 days. Cars and trucks will have separate detour routes. Please be advised that the car detour route has changed. Cars will be directed to follow a detour of Bower Hollow Road (T-508), Pine Creek Road (Route 2018), and Route 45. Trucks will be directed to Route 144, Route 192 and U.S. Route 15. Motorists can expect added drive time to their destination.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-26 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
