Motorists should expect single left lane closures on PA 33 southbound this week as construction begins to wrap up for replacement of the bridge carrying PA 33 South over US 22 in Bethlehem Township, Northampton County.
A single left lane closure on PA 33 SB, between Hecktown Road and William Penn Highway, is planned from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 24, Wednesday, April 25 and Friday, April 27, as construction crews place the new concrete deck.
The bridge, which is part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, is scheduled to be completed in May. When the PA 33
South bridge is complete, work will begin on the bridge carrying PA 33 North over US 22 in Bethlehem Township.
Schedules are subject to change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-198 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
