Motorists should expect single lane closures on US 22 and PA 33 this week as construction begins to wrap up for replacement of the bridge carrying PA 33 South over US 22 in Bethlehem Township, Northampton County.
US 22 eastbound and westbound lane closures are planned from 8:30 PM to 5.30 AM on Thursday, June 28 and Friday, June 29.
Northbound Lane closures on PA 33, between Hecktown Road and William Penn Highway, are planned from 8:30 PM to 5:30 AM from Thursday, June 28 to Friday, June 29.
The bridge, which is part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, is anticipated to be completed in late June. When the PA 33
South bridge is complete, work will begin on the bridge carrying PA 33 North over US 22 in Bethlehem Township.
Schedules are subject to change.
These bridges are referred to as JV-197 and JV-198 and are two out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
