Construction for the Twin Bridges Road (SR 2037) bridge, spanning over Maple Creek in Fallowfield Township, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Washington County’s structurally deficient list.
Construction is expected to begin on October 11 and be complete by mid-November.
During this time, motorists traveling Old 71 (SR 2016) will be directed to follow a detour along Old 71 (SR 2016), Scenic Drive (SR 481), I-70, Pennsylvania Ave. (SR 88).
Motorists traveling Twin Bridges Road (SR 2037) will be directed to follow a detour along Old 71 (SR 2016), Scenic Drive (SR 481), Crossridge Road (SR 2035), Scenic Drive (SR 481), Twin Bridges Road (SR 2037). Please note Twin Bridges Road (SR 2037) will remain open to Brothers Road.
The bridge was built in 1928 and averages 332 vehicles a day.
This bridge is referred to as JV-534 out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
