Construction to replace the bridge carrying Harmony Ridge Road (State Route 3004) over Fishing Creek in Drumore Township, Lancaster County, is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 4, as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
Beginning on Tuesday, September 4, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM motorists will encounter an overnight closure of the bridge for prep work and pre-drilling activity. During the overnight closing, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Furniss Road and Susquehannock Drive. The overnight detour is expected to be in place for one week. The bridge will reopen to traffic during the daytime hours.
Beginning the week of September 10, the bridge will be closed to all traffic for demolition and construction of the new bridge. The same detour -- Furniss Road and Susquehannock Drive – will be in place. The bridge is anticipated to be complete in October 2018.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-281 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
