Construction for the Pittsburgh Street Extension (Route 1031) bridge, spanning Mounts Creek in Connellsville Township and the City of Connellsville, Fayette County, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Fayette County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
Construction is expected to begin during the week of March 26 and be complete in early June. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Route 119 (Memorial Boulevard), Bellview Road (Route 1035), Narrows Road (Route 1033) and Narrows Road (Route 1031).
A pedestrian detour will be implemented along the shoulder of Southbound Route 119, East side of York Avenue and the South side of Connell Avenue.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-489 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
