Construction for the Route 51 (Hayden Boulevard) bridge, spanning Fallen Timber Run in
Forward and Elizabeth townships, Allegheny County, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Allegheny County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
Construction is expected to begin during the week of April 16 and be complete in mid-October. During construction, Route 51 (Hayden Boulevard) will be reduced to one northbound lane and one southbound lane of traffic. Weigles Hill Road will be closed at the intersection of Route 51 (Hayden Boulevard) throughout the duration of the project.
Detour follows Route 48 (Scenery Drive) to Route 51 (Hayden Boulevard).
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-399 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
