Construction for a Route 646 (Olean Road) bridge in McKean County is scheduled to begin soon as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. The bridge spans Pennbrook Run in Foster Township, about a mile north of the village of Gilmore. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from McKean County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
Construction is expected to begin the week of July 16 and be complete in late August. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Route 646 (Olean Road), Route 346 (Main Street), and Route 546 (Oil Valley Road).
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-67 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
