One down, 557 to go.
The Rapid Bridge Project has completed its first bridge, as the West Cruickshank Road crossing over Glade Run in Butler County's Middlesex Township reopened to traffic on Friday, August 28.
The bridge was closed for reconstruction in mid-June while the demolition and reconstruction work was performed by Clearwater Construction. The Pennsylvania based bridge and highway contractor completed the job about five days ahead of schedule. The new crossing is longer and wider than the one it replaced and is designed to last as long as 100 years. The original bridge was built in 1929, and carried about 1,000 vehicles per day.
